The Punjab Kings fired all these poor performing players in IPL 2019 and even changed their head coach at the end. This year at IPL 2022 an all-new PKBS team will be present because this time in the IPL auctions, PKBS was one of the teams that had the highest portfolio balance of Rs 45 crore with them. PKBS kept 16 players in its pool and released 7 players before the IPL 2022 auctions. It seems that the PKBS team is one of the strongest teams in IPL 2022 after adding a lot of new strong players in PKBS Squad 2022 after the auctions.

The Punjab Kings (PBKS) was the most underrated franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). In fact, PBKS is one of the three IPL teams that have appeared in every IPL season since the start of the tournament and have not won any title.

The franchise, formerly known as “Kings XI Punjab”, opted to rebrand the team ahead of IPL 2021. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) name was adopted at IPL 2021, however, it also couldn’t make a change in fortunes as the team failed again to reach the playoffs.

Punjab Kings (PBKS) took a heavy hit as first hitter and captain of KL Rahul decided to quit the franchise and try other opportunities. During the retention process, Rahul was dropped from PBKS, even though the franchisee wanted his services.

New Punjab Kings (PBKS) Captain at Tata IPL 2022:

Mayank Agarwal:

Talented opening hitter Mayank Agarwal will be one of the likely candidates for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) to lead the team. Agarwal is probably one of the easiest options as the franchise has already retained his services while retaining the player recently for INR 12 crore.

Besides KL Rahul, Mayank Agarwal is the only player who has consistently performed for team. Agarwal often used to be the initiator of destruction and scored the bulk of PBKS runs in power plays.

Punjab kings coach

The coach of the team is Anil Kumble. He is a former cricketer and commentator. During cricket day, he took 619 wickets in Test cricket and is the third highest at the time.

He was a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore from the 2008 to 2010.
